School bus hits teen pedestrian

CORDELE, GA (WALB) - A Crisp County teen has been taken to the hospital after authorities say she was hit by a school bus.

Cordele Police said it happened just before 7 a.m. Friday.

According to a report, a school bus driven by Annie Daniels was turning left onto 14th Street. Daniels told police she swerved the bus during the turn to avoid hitting a car nearby, and that's when the collision happened.

Police said 14-year-old Gabriella Burns was hit by the bus.

"She struck her with the mirror of the bus and didn't realize it till after she had cleared from the car looked over and saw her laying in the ditch. She was taken to Crisp Regional complaining of head and neck pain," said Cpl. Chris Herrick.
