Murdered Moultrie man hailed as hero

MOULTRIE, GA (WALB) - A Moultrie native was one of the men that was fatally shot on Tuesday in Cartersville. 64 year old Randy Hobgood was a carpenter working at the home at the time of the shooting.

On Tuesday 20 Year old Austin Taylor shot three people at one home, drove to another home and shot a man before carjacking two people at another location. Taylor shot himself after crashing as deputies chased him.

We spoke to Randy Hobgood's nephew Billy Hobgood. He calls his uncle a hero for trying to intervene.

"He stood between the shooter and the gentlemen he was having an argument with to try and calm it down. and he was the first one to get shot."

The man Robin Hobgood stood in front says if it wasn't for Hobgood he would probably be dead.
