Get rid of unwanted meds during pill drop

SYLVESTER, GA (WALB) -

Sylvester Police want to help folks get rid of old or unwanted medicine.

The department will team up with the Drug Enforcement Administration for Operation Pill Drop next month.

You can drop off any prescription or over the counter medication free and anonymously.

“This will reduce issues or abuse of medication. It'll also allow those with over the counter medication the proper way to dispose of them," said Jason Shiver.

The pill drop will be September 27th from 10-2 at the CVS Pharmacy on West Franklin Street in Sylvester.

More than 20 acres along Pecan Lane are up for rezoning as a Restricted Industrial District. The facility would be used to crush concrete and other storm debris from the nearby P&G warehouse that was destroyed by the January storms.
