ALBANY, GA (WALB) -
A Dougherty County woman prayed that her car would be returned after she loaned it to a friend who never came back, and her prayers were answered.Just before noon Thursday, WALB learned from DCP that the stolen 2001 Volvo has been recovered. Lt. Chad Kirkpatrick said that thanks to a CrimeStoppers tip, the vehicle was located Wednesday evening at 107 S. Slappey Blvd.
"This is an ongoing investigation. We are currently investigating to try and find this Tameka to see if we can identify her and take warrants on her," he said.
DCP thanks the public for their assistance.
Monica Rushing says she went to a club with some friends, and let a woman named Tameka drive her car. Rushing wants to thank everyone who kept their eyes open and helped her get her car back.
“I couldn't believe it. You put your trust in a person and you give them your property, but when they don't return it, its a different story. Now I just have to be more cautious with lending out my things and my property,” says Monica Rushing.
Police say you should never lend things to people you don't know well.
