Young baseball player returns from international tournament

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

A young baseball player got a big, surprise welcome home Tuesday night in Albany.

Deerfield Windsor sophomore Steven Williams played catcher for Team USA in the 15 and Under World Cup Tournament in Mexico.

His summer league coach says being chosen for the team was a great honor. "It's an unbelievable honor not only just to represent his family and himself but to represent this community and his country in an area that truly is on a national scale and international scale, and he's playing against the best players in the world," said Hayes Cook.

Team USA won every game it played in the tournament, except the championship game which it lost 6-3 to Cuba.
