Jury reviews bloody evidence in murder trial

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Jurors saw the bloody clothing admitted as evidence Tuesday in the trial of two men charged with murdering an Albany business owner.

Jordan Harris and Ezekial James are on trial for the armed robbery, shooting, and subsequent death two months later of former Lee County Commissioner and Albany business owner Walter Phelps.

Prosecutors say Harris shot Phelps in the back and that James drove the getaway car.

A former and a current Albany Police officer took the stand Tuesday afternoon.

Mary Martinez rode in the ambulance with Phelps and said he was unconscious.

"I was not, I did try to ask him questions, but he was not able to respond," she said.

Phelps died two months after the shooting.

Harris and James are also accused of using Phelps' credit card hours after the shooting.
