Grieving mother wants answers in son's death

BLAKELY, GA (WALB) - A grieving mother pleads for answers after her son was killed along an Early County road. "Please come forward. Call the Early County Sheriff's Office," said Azzie Williams

Investigators are waiting on autopsy results to determine exactly what happened to her son, 49 year-old Sammy George.

He died Sunday afternoon after being found lying in the road on Jesse Johnson Street Saturday night with severe head injuries. Investigators believe he may have been hit by a car.

They and George's family are asking for tips. Sheriff William Price said, "We're reaching out to the community. Early County is a family-oriented community, and it really disturbs me that something like this could happen here to someone as known as Sammy was and nobody would come forward."

Surrounded by loved ones Monday evening, George's mother told us, "We're taking it one day at a time. We cry awhile, laugh awhile, eat awhile, pray awhile."

If you have any information that could help investigators solve this case, you're asked to call the Early County Sheriff's Office at 723-3158.
