Golden Rams open practice with roster full of new players

Albany State opened its season with its first practice Monday morning.

The entire day was full of teaching and players bonding. Head Coach Mike White says over half of the roster is made up of newcomers. The new influx of talent made for an interesting first day.

"Typical first day, dropped balls, missed assignments but again, that's why we're practicing and guys are working hard on trying to improve," White said. "Probably over half of the room is new, first timers that's what it's all about."

Thankfully for ASU fans, the offense shall remain mostly the same. Most of the skill position players return to last year's SIAC Championship team, including Frank Rivers.

"I'm real excited about the offense," White said. "I'm real excited to see Frank and the backs and the receivers who are all back and ready to go. They've been working hard all summer so I'm very optimistic about Frank Rivers and this offense."

Albany State opens the season September 6th at Valdosta State.
