Young Crisp Academy Wildcats still have high expectations

CORDELE, GA (WALB) - Ron Drummond's Crisp Academy team is young this year after graduating 12 seniors a year ago.

To speed up the maturing process, the Wildcats have scrimmaged several larger schools this offseason.

Drummond believes that will make his team better.

How good? He still expects to contend for a region championship.

"We're playing four AAA schools in a row to start the season, and then we'll start to get down to AA in our region. We think that'll make us better," Drummond says. "We have to stay healthy, continue to work hard, keep our attitude right, and if we do that, we expect to win the region."

Drummond says he knows people will doubt his team, but that's just fine with him.

"We're going to surprise some people," he says.

Crisp Academy will kick off the 2014 season August 22 at Tiftarea.
