Peanut shipping untouched in Russian embargo

A ban on some U.S. agriculture products in Russian is not having an effect in South Georgia.

Russia is restricting imports on many products.

Peanuts did not make the list. But the Russian embargo is still a concern for peanut farmers.

“We think were okay and shipments are moving right on. The quality control people say they are going to stop checking. That will cause a slow down. So right now we hope they will keep buying peanuts,” said Tyron Spearman.

Russia is one of the top five countries for U.S. peanut exports.
