Congestion expected for Lee Co. first day of school

LEESBURG, GA (WALB) -

School begins again Friday in Lee County.

A busy scene is expected with many parents wanting to take their children to school on the opening day.

Even though the Lee County Sheriff's Office and Leesburg Police Department will be directing traffic, parents are asked to be patient and plan to arrive early.

"We are expectinga lott of traffic. We are going to do the best we can to try to keep moving it. There is only so much we can do on that first day," said Leesburg City Manager Bob Alexander.

A bypass aimed to relieve the school traffic congestion is scheduled to be finished in December of 2015.
