Identity theft fugitive captured by Dougherty County Sheriff's Investigators

ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Dougherty County Sheriff's Investigators arrest a man for aggravated assault, kidnapping, and identity fraud.

They say he was part of a bizarre scheme that stuck a victim with another woman's $30,000 bill for surgery.

48 year old Charles Parrish was arrested at a car repair shop on Gillionville Road Thursday morning.

Investigators say in February he ran over his girlfriend, Renita McLendon, with a truck she stole in Moultrie then helped her steal a woman's identity to pay for her medical care.

A tip led Deputies to Parrish Thursday morning.

Dougherty County Sheriff's Office Captain Craig Dodd said  "Warrant deputies and investigators went to the location, and he was there working on a vehicle. We placed him under arrest and transported him."

McClendon was arrested in April and charged with identity theft and fraud.  Parrish is being held in the Dougherty County jail.
