DAWSON, GA (WALB) -

Dawson Police charged a suspect with attacking and robbing Ralph McGill in his back yard Sunday. Some of McGill's former piano students and members of the Shellman First Baptist Church youth group dropped by McGill's house.

In addition to offering their support and encouragement they brought a love offering and a basket of fruit and chocolate.

"I think it's going to make him feel pretty good to know that all of the community does care about Mr. Ralph, and they all love him,” said Savanna Jones, former piano student.

"He's so sweet and good to the children and they just decided we just wanted to bring him a little gift and let him know that we are glad he's ok and safe,” said Karen Timmerman with Shellman First Baptist Church.

"That's just typical of the people in Southwest Georgia,” said Ralph McGill, recipient.

The group planned to bring McGill a home-cooked meal, but he said he had plenty of food at his house and they shouldn't go through all that trouble.
