ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Jury selection for the murder trial of two Albany men charged with killing a well-known business owner and former Lee County Commissioner began Monday.

The process began around 1:00 p.m. Monday, with 100 candidates.

Jordan Harris and Ezekial James are charged with murder and armed robbery in the death of P & P Hardware owner Walter Phelps.

Prosecutors said Harris, who is a former employee of Phelps, shot him while robbing the store in July 2010. Phelps died two months later.

Harris had been released from the Lee County Jail and issued an electronic monitor. He was wearing the monitor and was with James at the time of the robbery.

Jury selection is expected to take several days.
