AMERICUS, GA (WALB) -

Two graduates of South Georgia Technical College return to congratulate the next generation.

Joe and Kimberly Schroeder Williamson, are graduates of the Caterpillar program. The program offers training opportunities for students who are sponsored by a Caterpillar dealer. Students participating in the co-op spend eight weeks learning theory and applications. Then return to the dealer for eight weeks of job training each semester for six semesters.

Joe Williamson is employed with Yancey Brothers Company and he oversees the Yancey students. He graduated in 2005 and Kimberly in 2004. She is the only woman to ever graduate from the SGTC program.

“It wasn’t that long ago that I was going through this same program and learning how to become a Caterpillar technician. Now I am helping to train students to enter the workforce with Yancey. I really enjoy meeting the students and having the opportunity to come back to South Georgia Tech on a regular basis,” said Williamson.
