Athens teen stabbed in neck

ATHENS, AL (WAFF) - An Athens teenager who was stabbed in the neck with a kitchen knife held down his attacker until police arrived, according to investigators.

Officers responded to a stabbing call around 9 p.m. on Friday at 11817 Leonard Circle.

When officers arrived, they said they found the victim holding down his attacker, James Rodney Wilson.

The 18-year-old had been stabbed in the neck with a kitchen knife.

Witnesses told officers Wilson started cussing at his mother and the victim began arguing with Wilson about it. The victim went outside and when he returned, Wilson hugged him and then stabbed him in the neck.

The teenager was taken to Athens Limestone Hospital.

Wilson was charged with second degree assault and booked at the police department. He has since been transferred to the county jail.

Limestone County Sheriff's Department assisted in the case.

    Preliminary investigations revealed the female victim fell from a billboard while conducting routine maintenance, and suffered fatal injury, according to Lowndes County Coroner Austin J. Fiveash.
