Albany Police say they will not be sympathetic to anyone caught speeding through a school zone.
School starts Monday in Dougherty County... And Albany Police will be patrolling school zones to make sure drivers remember to slow down.
Police say if you're caught, you shouldn't expect a warning.
And you should remember fines for speeding in a school zone are considerably higher than a regular ticket.
"A lot of it is based on your driving record in the city and in the court system," said Greg Gadt with Albany Police. "If you are not a very good driver, you will probably have to pay a little more out of your wallet."
Police also remind drivers to remember to stop for school buses when they are loading and unloading students.
