Lupus Bowl set for next weekend

TIFTON, GA (WALB) - Volunteers for in the surrounding Tiftarea Community are rallying together on August 9, 2014 with kick-off at 7:30 p.m. for the 2014 Lupus Football Bowl game, to urge action and raise awareness of lupus, a mysterious and devastating disease that ravages different parts of the body. 

Lupus has no known cause and no known cure. The purpose of this to bring awareness to the South Georgia Communities. The game is a way to Highlight Lupus in the community and to Honor the many Lupus Survivors in South Georgia and remembering the ones who have passed on.

During half-time we will Honor and Remember the Lupus Survivors/Warriors at Brodie Football Field. They will also remember the ones who have lost the battle to Lupus by releasing balloons for those who have passed on.

Cost: $8.00 General Admission, $5.00 with a 2014 Lupus Awareness T-Shirt,10 & Under Free

    Health officials are urging you to be careful around wildlife and stray animals, after a South Georgia family was attacked by a fox with rabies. This happened last Thursday on Cotton Avenue in Lake Park. A man and his dog were attacked by the fox when they went outside their house. Lowndes County animal service employees said the fox's test came back positive for Rabies. "Once someone really becomes infected with the rabies virus and it develops into the disease.
