LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Tens of thousands of comic book fans are ready to flood downtown Louisville this weekend for the area's largest comic con of the year.  Fandomfest organizers are hoping to erase the bitter taste some fans left with after last years event.

Unmasking the comic books, posters and super hero hype that makes 40 year olds feel 14 again vendors are getting ready for Fandomfest 2014. As promoters look to reboot a less than flawless performance. Promoter Myra Daniels says he's not nervous after last year's problems.

"We are actually calm and cool," Daniels said.

The comic, movie and TV gathering moved to the Kentucky International Convention Center in 2013. A record crowd of around 30,000 not all good news. One person called last year's event "a disaster." Some attendees complained they waited hours in disorganized lines, never getting the autographs and pictures they paid for.

"I think some of it was valid," Daniels said of the negative reaction. "Some of it was because they were not adjusted. We have a lot of new people who had never been to convention before so they didn't know what to expect."

Still Daniels promised changes after fans complaints following last year's Fandomfest. She told us to make things better they've quadrupled their space renting out all 200,000 square feet of the convention center adding room where she hopes will make it easier to control lines.

There's also a new automated ticketing system to get fans in the door quicker. More signage and information booths to answer questions. Also, there is a new volunteer coordinator for this year. That comes after approximately 150 no show volunteers last year added to the confusion.

Fans will also have an app to help them this year. Download Eventbase and then click on "festivals." Click on Fandomfest, and you can find out who's signing autographs in which halls, at what time, and who is running late. So you don't have to wait in line any longer than necessary.

Make no mistake - there will be lines. But Daniels says she wouldn't be surprised if attendance is down a bit this year without headliners like Stan Lee or Walking Dead star Norman Reedus who brought crowds they simply weren't prepared for.

"Can I tell you it's going to be 100% somebody's not going to be upset?" Daniels said. "no. Unfortunately someone is always going to be upset."

But Daniels is confident says Fandomfest will be no house of horrors. Unless that's what fans were coming to see.
