Community group holds vigil to end violence

NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

A young man's murder is weighing heavily on a neighborhood. They want answers and an end to the violence.

"Every parent expects their child to outlive them," said Ed Wisdom III, whose dad, former TSU director of information services Ed Wisdom Jr., who was shot and killed sitting on his porch in October 2011. "Nobody plans to have to bury their child."

Montinez Johnson was shot and killed last weekend during an altercation on University Court. Two other men were injured.

Wednesday night, the community group Partners in the Struggle hosted an event to draw the people together and to call for the killing to stop.

If you have any information about the shooting, you can contact Metro Crime Stoppers at 74-CRIME.
