Officials investigating the crash that killed Team USA track star Torrin Lawrence have released more information as to how the crash happened.
Lawrence was outside of his car awaiting help after he experienced a tire blowout on Interstate 75 early Monday morning.
His car was hit by a semi-truck after the blowout while it was still in the traffic lanes.
In an interview Tuesday, a cousin said Lawrence's mother was on the phone with him at the time of impact.
"She was talking to him on the phone when this occurred," said cousin James Cushion. "She's probably replaying it in her mind. If there's something different she could have said."
Lawrence was ultimately caught up in the crash and killed.
Officials said while he was outside of the car, he was in the traffic lanes when the crash happened.
Lawrence was on his way home to Jacksonville, Florida.
Georgia State Patrol has been investigating the crash.
