Thomas County Justice Center set to expand soon

THOMAS CO., GA (WALB) - Thomas County law enforcers are gearing up for a much-needed expansion to the jail-justice center.

The $2 million project is set to begin in October.

An 8,000 square foot addition will be built, and then the old part of the building will be renovated.

“What started out as a three person investigation is now a six and seven person investigation unit, city and county together are sitting on top of each other, it's been a long time coming, we are really excited about it,” said Capt. Steve Jones.

The project will be paid for by revenue from a special purpose local option sales tax that voters approved in 2012.
