ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

All Dougherty county students will be able to eat breakfast and lunch for free at school again this year.

Parents won't have to fill out an application for the program.

School officials say the only meal some kids get many days is at school.

And a full stomach can make a big difference in their ability to learn in the classroom.

RD Harter with the Dougherty County school system says "school starts August 9th and parents won't have to worry about whether or not their child will receive good nourishment at breakfast or at lunch this year."

This is the second year in a 4-year program to provide free meals to all students.

It's paid for with federal grant money.

Dougherty County's system qualifies because of the high number of students who qualify for free or reduced prices meals under the normal school meal program.
