Douglas residents appreciate Quality of Life program

DOUGLAS, GA (WALB) - Folks in Douglas are working to improve the quality of life in their city.

The city launched the Douglas Quality of Life program four months ago.

Code enforcers look for violations such as trash left on the side of the road and junk in yards.

They can issue fines of up to one thousand dollars.

Code enforcement officer Rodger Goddard says residents appreciate the effort.

“We've had a lot of positive comments about it and even in the neighborhoods where people do not come out and openly tell you, they will pull you off to the side and tell you thank you for helping to get our neighborhood cleaned up,” said Rodger Goddard.

Goddard says the initiative helps keep crime down and will be a permanent part of the community.
