COFFEE CO., AL (WSFA) -
Coffee County Officials say a babysitter is facing multiple charges after she left three children in a tub alone for several hours while she went to the store.
Krystallyn Mary Hussey, 19, was eventually located and arrested at the Walmart in Enterprise. She was taken to the Coffee County Jail and charged with criminal trespass third, theft of property third and three counts of endangering the welfare of a child.
The Coffee County Sheriff's Department confirms a 6-year-old, 5- year-old, and 9-month-old were left at a home on County Road 547 with only drinks and bags of chips.
Authorities say the children were locked in a bathroom and told to stay in the bathtub by their babysitter for nearly three hours.
When deputies arrived they spoke with the mother of the children who said she received a call after her 6-year-old went to a neighbor's home.
The neighbor, Shirley Windham, says she wasn't prepared when the little girl came knocking on her front door.
"She was crying when she got here," Windham said. "She said her babysitter had left them their by themselves and there was her little sister and baby brother."
"The oldest one she is a trooper. She is my hero because she was very good. She had given the baby a bottle and changed its diaper two times," Windham said.
Right now the motive isn't clear. The mother also discovered that jewelry and other items had been taken from the home.
It appears Hussey had been living with the family for about year and hadn't done anything like this before.
Hussey is being held in the Coffee County Jail on a $16,500 bond.
