DCSS hosts educational workshops

A special guest is coming to Dougherty County to help the community get healthy.

The Dougherty County school system is partnering with Phoebe's Network of Trust to host a two day community event next week on how to maintain a healthy lifestyle.

Marc Fomby will educate the community through entertaining. School officials say children who live a healthy life perform better in the classroom.

"The idea of this community activity is to not just be directed at students, because they're all kinds of people involved in a healthy community. And so we're inviting aunts and uncles and grandparents and parents and guardians and sisters and brothers to all come out to Monroe High School for this event," said R.D. Harter, the DCSS spokesperson.

The event will be held at Monroe Comprehensive High School on Tuesday, July 29th from 9 am to 4 pm and Wednesday, July 30th from 9am until 12 pm.
