ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Darius Jamohn Polite, 20, is in the Dougherty County jail in connection to a burglary, but it isn’t something he took that did him in.

It was his school ID card, which he apparently dropped, that led police straight to him.

APD says that officers found Polite’s high school student I.D. on the floor at the Verizon store on Cordele Road, after it had been broken into.

APD picked him up on North Haley Drive Wednesday afternoon. He was taken to the police station for questioning, and then was placed under arrest and transported to the Dougherty County Jail.

Detectives linked Polite to break-ins at Woodall’s and Subway on North Jefferson Street. Nothing was taken in either case.
