Close race puts Woods ahead for Superintendent of schools
TIFTON, GA (WALB) -
A run-off recount for State Superintendent of Schools in Georgia is underway.
Republican candidate Richard Woods of Tifton leads Mike Buck by just 728 votes. A recount by the Secretary of State will officially finalize the votes by Friday to declare Woods the winner. Woods says the race was closer than expected.
“I thought it would be a bigger swing one way or the other. But it was a good race and my opponent did well. Now we’re moving forward and looking to the general election against the democratic opponent,” said Woods.
