AMERICUS, GA (WALB) -
Americus residents found out a couple weeks ago that their curbside recycling was really going to the landfill.
Now, residents are asking the city council to pass a new recycling plan that would cost 2 additional dollars.
The plan was initially struck down, but a public hearing will be held tomorrow to propose a new one.
Proponents of the idea say it will help everyone around the city.
“We recently learned that our community recycling bins were being taken to the dump so we would like to initiate a curbside recycling program that would benefit local businesses, the environment and promote community involvement,” said Brian Parkinson.
The city council meeting will be tomorrow at the Reese Park Economic Development Center at 5 o'clock.
