Residents on alert for kids in cars

LEE CO., GA (WALB) - Lee County deputies say recent hot car arrests put their residents on alert. Tuesday night, they got a call from someone in the Harvey's parking lot who said a baby was left in a car.

Officials say when they got there the car was gone, the woman then drove to the sheriff's office with the baby, which was OK.

Lee County investigators encourage folks to call if they see a child, elderly person or animal left in a car.

"Whether the car is running or the car is not running, or if the windows are cracked with the car running and the air conditioner running and there's no adult around. They need to call the sheriff's office, the police office," said Chief Lewis Harris of the Lee County Sheriff's Office.

No charges were filed in this case.
