ATLANTA, GA (WALB) - The race for the Republican nomination for state school superintendent is still to close to call. With only provisional ballots left to be decided, Richard Woods of Tifton leads Mike Buck by just over seven hundred votes in the race for the Republican nomination.

The provisional ballots will be finalized on Friday and the results from Tuesday's vote should be certified early next week.

After that, the losing candidate in this race has two days to ask for a recount.

The A. P. says that with all  2,727 precincts reporting, Richard Woods has 199,071 votes and Michael Buck has 198,343.

The winner in the GOP runoff will face Valerie Wilson, who won the Democratic nomination on Tuesday.
