City leaders need time to consider proposed powers for city manager

City leaders say they need more time to consider proposed new powers for the city manager. City commissioners tabled a charter change that would make the City Manager the General Manager of the Albany Water, Gas and Light Commission.
The city manger would oversee all operations for the city utility and report to the City commission. City leaders say they need more time to review the changes.
"I think what it said to me is that, we are going to move forward with it, but it just won't move forward at this time and there might be a few changes that some commissioners want to make,” said Mayor Dorothy Hubbard.
If changes are made to the proposal the city will have to advertise those changes and have two more readings of the ordinance at commission meetings before taking a vote.
