Worth schools adds extra security for students

WORTH CO., GA (WALB) - Worth County schools are working to make sure students are safe this school year.

Over the summer they added extra security features to all schools.

More fencing was installed to keep unwanted visitors out.

Schools are also getting keypad entries and safety fronts at the entrances of schools.

Schools officials say the updated security is all about keeping students safe.

“Store front vestibules, closing bus loops, putting decorative fencing,” said Jimmy Odom, Facility Manager.

“Instruction is the main focus in Worth County, but safety always comes first. Our parents would be happy to know the children are safer this year,” said Kay Matthews, Superintendent.

Everything is set to be finished before the first day of school on July 29.
