Study causes speed limit changes on U.S. 84

THOMAS CO., GA (WALB) - Speed limit signs now read 65 instead of 55 miles per hour.

The Georgia Department of Transportation recently raised the limit as a result of a recent study.

Georgia state patrol troopers say that they will be enforcing the new limit accordingly.

“Well the speed limits out on 84 have changed, portions of it are 55 and other portions are 65, we will be enforcing the speed limit as posted, 65 mph is a good speed for most of that highway,” said Sgt. first class Tommy Peeples.

The Georgia DOT received a request to perform the recent study and determined that 65 would be an appropriate speed for that stretch of the road.
