A rare bird from Florida is sighted at a state park in Cordele.

Two Limpkin birds have been calling the Georgia Veterans State Park home for about four months now. These birds are known for their distinct walk. They are about two feet tall and is brown with white spots on its back. The Limpkins use to habitat in South Georgia, but left the state due to declining food sources.

"It's a very rare occurrence to see them in Georgia and the more that we see, the more that we notice that the population is moving back into Georgia,” said Amanda Sayles, Georgia Veterans State Park Activities Coordinator.

The birds usually make appearances out on the lake twice a day. Their main food sources are apple snails and freshwater mussels.
