Wakefest wraps up with benefit concert at Chehaw

ALBANY, GA (WALB) - The 2014 Wakefest competition is wrapped up with a concert at Chehaw Park on Saturday night.

People came out to enjoy some live music from area bands, and help out an 8-year-old boy who suffers from Down Syndrome and Autism.

All the proceeds will help out Ty West, and pay for his medical expenses. Every year organizers say they enjoy helping out someone in need.

“It just seems like there is so many people that could use other people's help. Its just one way to do it. We found something we are passionate about. And then when we can turn around and make money and help someone out in the same sentence its icing on the cake.,” says Adam Gilbert, event coordinator.

People came from as far away as Alabama and Florida to show their support.
