Hundreds turn out for Community Market despite rain

An Albany organization working to preserve a historic park held their first major event.

Friends of Tift Park had their first Community Market at the park on Saturday. Candle makers, jewelry makers, and artists were some of the 60 vendors at the market. There was also live music. About 500 people came out to support the market despite the rain.

"We've had a great turnout with the vendors and the customers,” said Stephen Brimberry, Friends of Tift Park. “The rain kind of closed us down early, but people have stuck around and their still selling their wares.”

Organizers say they now have a waiting list of vendors for the market. The Tift Park Community Market is every Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
