Civic Center theft arrests made

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Albany Police caught three young men they think were trying to steal from the Albany Civic Center.

Police beefed up security following two recent burglaries. They caught 17 year olds Juwan Reeves, Exxavier Shealy, and Raekwon Sloan climbing over a fence about 12:30 Friday morning.

Investigators suspect the teens were preparing to steal copper. They're charged with theft by taking.

"We've been working with APD and putting some other security measures in place, to make sure people are caught if they try to break in to the Civic Center," said Albany Recreation & Parks Deputy Director Derrrell Smith.

Officials say they are not sure if the other two Civic Center burglaries are related to the arrest of the three teens this morning, but they are investigating.
