Ashburn pulls out of Task Force

The city of Ashburn becomes the latest turner county city to officially withdraw from the Mid-South Task Force.

Police Chief Joe Saxon decided earlier this year that the money could be better used by paying for an internal investigator.

The city commissioners approved the proposed plan earlier this week and the mayor signed off on it yesterday. Now, they are accepting applications and working to fill the position.

"We will look at applicants from within first. Set up a board and a panel based on the applications we receive and then we'll move forward in the hiring process. Which will be lengthy," said Ashburn Police Chief Joe Saxon.

Saxon sent an announcement about the position to his officers Friday. He says he hopes to hire someone already working in the department.
