THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) -

A man has been rescued from the remains of the old Sunny Land meat packing building, at 600 Cassidy Road in Thomasville.

Most of the structure, which was built nearly a century ago, has already been demolished.

A crisis intervention officer was able to calm 27 year old Walter Stanley Mintz down, and he was rescued using a bucket truck just after 11:00 on Thursday morning.

A city worker spotted the man on top of the building.

Mintz told rescuers that he was living up there and had intentions of jumping. He is charged with trespassing and is headed to get a mental evaluation at Archbold

There was a huge amount of debris from the previous demolition that is impeding their progress.
