HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

Amazon customers now have Sunday deliveries in Huntsville and Madison.

The United States Postal Service will begin a new Sunday service to deliver Amazon.com orders starting this weekend. A USPS spokesperson said they have hired 55 new employees to start the service.

Postal Service administration at the Madison Post Office on Hughes Road said the service will also include customers in Huntsville. Amazon.com and USPS representatives said zip codes in Decatur, Athens, Hazel Green, Toney, Harvest, and Owens Cross Roads are included in the list.

No communities in the Shoals or Sand Mountain regions were included on the list.

A USPS spokesperson said the postal service began delivering on Sundays in select markets nationwide in November 2013.

USPS and Amazon signed a Negotiated Service Agreement (NSA), a contract between USPS and an individual company (Amazon) that provides customized pricing incentives or other terms.

NSAs are intended to meet the needs of specific customers for whom mail is an integral part of their business strategy. Nationwide on average, Amazon packages have totaled approximately 250,000 each Sunday.

Many North Alabama residents say Amazon's announcement is great news for the eligible cities.

Sharla Horton owns a small business and places daily orders on Amazon for her operation. She believes having Sunday delivery will only help her business expand faster. She said the convenience of knowing an order can go out on Sunday is a relief - both to her and her customers.

"It's wonderful news," Horton said. "When I need a product so fast, when I need a paper good, when I need a utensil... it really is a game-changer for me."
