Victim identified in Mock Rd. shooting; Pot missing

ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Albany Police officers are searching for a shooter who wounded a self-confessed drug dealer overnight Wednesday. The assailant apparently also took a large stash of marijuana.

Around 12:30 AM, officers were called to a shooting at Hidden Oaks Apartments on South Mock Road. Officers were unable to find the victim at the scene, but later located him at the Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital emergency room.

APD says that Donnell Weston "showed up via private transport" at Phoebe, while officers were still in the Hidden Oaks area looking for him.

Weston told police he was shot in the left side once by a black man he did not know. Weston admitted that he was shot during a marijuana sale, and also told police he was robbed of two pounds of marijuana.

The case is being investigated by APD detectives.
