BAINBRIDGE, GA (WALB) -

A teen is behind bars and facing charges for stealing a car from Florida and bringing it to Georgia.

Two people were stopped at the Kangaroo store in Bainbridge driving a Volkswagon Jetta that had recently been reported stolen in Tallahassee.

Lavaski Williams and Caliah Burns were taken into custody but claimed they didn't steal the vehicle.

“The two in the car stated that they did not take the car, they stated that the juvenile had stolen the car in Tallahassee and brought the vehicle here, the juvenile denied it, family members state that they had seen him in the vehicle when he first got into the town,” said investigator Ryan Deen.

The juvenile is facing theft by bringing stolen property into the state, and theft of an automobile charges. The other two individuals are facing theft by receiving stolen property charges.
