Scam alert: Lucas County Sheriff warning of Time Warner imposter

The Lucas County Sheriff's Department posted an alert on its Facebook page Monday warning of a man impersonating a Time Warner employee in Monclova Township in order to gain entrance into people's homes.

Those who have been affected by the man say he knocks on the door and tells the homeowner there may be a problem with their home computer modem which is causing a problem with their neighbor's service.  Once inside the house, he asks to go to the basement to check on wiring.

The man reportedly hooks up a device to the home computer which he carried in with a leather pouch.

Deputies say the suspect is driving a white utility truck or van with no company descriptions.

People in the area are being warned that if he comes to your home, do not let him inside, and call the Lucas County Sheriff's Office at 419-213-4917.
