Plane fire at Hartsfield is only a training exercise

ATLANTA (CBS46) -

Travelers who are flying in or out of Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport on Tuesday may see a plane on fire but they need not worry.

It's all part of training for the Atlanta Fire Rescue Department.

The live burn training exercises will take place from 8 a.m. until noon at the fire department's training facility at the airport.

The exercise will create a lot of heavy, dark smoke which can be seen from the nearby highways.

An airport spokesperson says the scene may cause a high volume of calls to 911 from drivers and residents, but remind people it is only a drill.
