Phoebe to repurpose warehouse for distribution

Jeff Sinyard Jeff Sinyard
ALBANY, GA (WALB) - The Albany-Dougherty Payroll Development is working with Phoebe Putney Health System, Inc. to make changes for a new goods distribution center. Phoebe bought acreage to build a facility at the Pecan Grove Corporate Park last fall. Since then, an existing Hirsch warehouse came on the market at the entrance of the park.

Monday morning, the PDA approved Phoebe to move into that facility, putting the initial purchased land back on the market.

" It's a great size. It already has racks in it and they can go in and purchase that building. They can get it operational and be able to hire who they're going to hire and make the investment," said Jeff Sinyard, PDA Chairman.

Leaders say the available 10 acres can be used to bring in more business to the area.

Phoebe will also be maintaining the entrance of the industrial park.
