GLENNVILLE, GA (WTOC) -

A high speed chase began in Liberty County on Georgia State Route 196 and went into Long County, speeds were reported as high as 95 miles per hour.

After passing Smith Berry Road, the deputy decided to end the pursuit and initiated the pit maneuver sending the van into a ditch in the 5900 block of GA 196.  The vehicle traveled the length of the ditch until it hit a driveway, struck a mailbox and landed on the passenger side.

The suspect was transported to Memorial University Medical Center and the deputy was unhurt.

Georgia State Patrol is investigating the incident.
