ALBANY, GA (WALB) -  A special exhibit remembering the Flood of 1994 in Albany is opened to the public.

Thronateeska cut the ribbon Friday morning for new exhibit remembers one of the worst natural disasters in Georgia history.

The Flood of Memories exhibit has memorabilia from the city and local businesses that helped during the flood.

Executive director Tommy Gregors says the remembering the flood can be difficult for many who lived through it.

"It was just a very devastating area," said Gregors. "The heartbreak, the loss and so many people that were affected by it, and it was something that I hope we never have to repeat."

Gregors said he hopes the exhibit educates people about Albany's history. He hopes sharing the experiences and memories will teach people what to do during a flood.
