Pole dancing competition to host food drive July 12

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

Glam Fitness wants to put Columbus, Ga. on the Pole Dance Fitness map by hosting a Pole Dance America National Preliminary Competition and send local competitors to the 2015 PDA Championship.

The studio will also conduct a community food drive to help those fighting hunger. Every person that brings five items of non-perishable food items will receive one free fitness class. All donations will go to the Feeding the Valley Food Bank. This event is presented by MC Healthcare Inc. which is a non-profit organization 20-3489112

Glam Fitness studio owner Lauren Harrell of Columbus will be the hostess of the National Preliminary event on Saturday, July 12. The Compulsory Round begins at 10 a.m. and the Performance Round starts at 3 p.m.

The deadline to enter is July 11 at 11:59 p.m.

Pole Dance America Preliminary is the fifth of 22 nationwide competitions that allow women and men ages 16 and older to win a spot in the 2015 PDA Championship in New Orleans, LA.

Glam Fitness is located at 1154 Britt Avenue in Columbus, Ga.

    Thomas County has been working all weekend to help community members prepare for the storm.  One way they're doing that is offering free sandbags for people who live in low lying areas that hold a lot of water.
