ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Workers are halfway through with demolishing the old airport terminal. The first floor of the building where administrative offices and the airline counters are now gone.

Now workers are focusing on tearing down the encased concrete.

Airport officials say the entire building should be demolished by the end of the month and then work will begin to build some new parking lots.

Airport officials ask that people be patient while construction is underway.

"When they come back from a trip things might be a little bit different so will just ask people to be patient because the second part of the project is probably going to be a little hectic and we are going to be asking people to park where they are not normally parking," said Airport Director Yvette Aehle.

She says they're going to do some sanitary and sewer improvements before they start work to build the new parking lot, which is expected to be complete next February.
